Recyclying Water & Stone

We’re as passionate about the environment as we are about our work. That’s why our process includes the recycling of the water we use through the course of the fabrication process as well as the scrap stone left when creating custom stone products.

waterfilterWith our state-of-the-art closed-loop water reclamation and filtration processes, Vesta has achieved a two-pronged goal: by minimizing the formidable amount of freshwater needed for automated cutting and machining of granite, marble, quartz and other stones, Vesta has dramatically reduced the associated cost component in its automated manufacturing process. The self-contained water filtration centre from Water Treatment Technologies requires freshwater only to replace that which was lost through evaporation. The 4500 gallon (20,000 litre) system cleans the stone-particle laded “grey water” produced when water is used to lubricate tools as they cut, grind and polish stone. The filtered water has particles no larger than 1.2 microns, suitable for re-use as coolant in the CNC machining centre precision equipment.

In tandem with water re-use Vesta recycles scrap stone material to reduce the waste produced in its manufacturing. Large tippable bins on the factory floor are used to collect offcuts and cutouts from Vesta’s manufacturing. A forklift lifts the full bin onto a truck for delivery to makers of concrete aggregate.
